B'nai B'rith Youth

There are three active B'nai B'rith chapters in New Orleans: two for girls and one for boys. The activities are coordinated by a B'nai B'rith Youth Council and staffed by the youth worker of the Jewish Community Center.

Synagogue Youth Groups

Reform
All reform congregations participate in SOFTY or Southern Federation of Temple Youth. SOFTY also operates the Henry Jacobs Camp in Utica, Miss., which has a full summer program and is used for retreats.

Orthodox
Beth Israel youngsters participate in the National Conference of Synagogue Youth.

Conservative
Shir Chadash's youth programs are affiliated with United Synagogues of America. Programs include Kadimah for 6th and 7th graders, and USY for high school students.

Young Judaea

Open to all 4th through 12th graders, Young Judaea is a city-wide movement whose purpose is to provide youth with a positive Jewish experience and close identity with Israel while having fun. There are more than 80 members in New Orleans. Clubs meet on Sunday afternoons, and members also host groups from other areas.
