| Central Business District "CBD" The Central Business District is made up of commercial, retail, tourist and residential areas. The area extends from the River to Claiborne Avenue and is bound between Iberville Street on the downtown side and the elevated interstate, which leads to the Greater Mississippi River Bridge on the uptown side. Poydras Street, a major street running through the CBD, holds claim to the largest building in the city. Canal Street, a street of equal importance, offers shopping, hotels and restaurants. Public transportation is available via bus services, and parts of the CBD are also serviced by the streetcar system. |
